Partial dentures or completed dentures are prostheses that could be made of an acrylic or metal base. Acrylic base dentures are faster to make and less expensive, however, they are not as strong as those with the metal base. Disadvantages of dentures are: They are removable and therefore accident prone, they are rather bulky and unstable, they are one of the causes of jaw bone atrophy and they do not provide as much bite bearing as bridges, implants supported prostheses or other fixed appliances do.
