Resume

My dental practice philosophy is that every patient should be treated as an individual who deserves the best dental care possible. I try to achieve this by respecting and listening to my patients and staying abreast of current dental knowledge and technology. It is my honor to serve my community.

Summary of My Background

I would like to share a summary of my educational, professional, and social background so you have a sense of my life and practice philosophy. My teenage years in Iran coincided with Iran’s 1979 revolution. This revolution was followed by a dreadful war between Iran and Iraq.  Unfortunately, my hometown happened to be in the war zone, and I was drafted into the war as well. This was my introduction into the world of medicine as a paramedic in war zone.  Experiencing war, its tragedies, and aftermath at such a young age gave me a unique perspective of life and how we should live it.  I came to appreciate life and humanity because my own life was saved several times by others and by pure strokes of luck.

I consider myself to be an example of the American dream.  I immigrated to the United States in December 1985 as a student, with very little English, minimal resources, and no family to support me financially or emotionally.  However, in nine years, I was able to earn two professional degrees with honor. Within this time, I became a US citizen in 1993 and well established in my community.    I received a Bachelor of Science in radiologic technology in 1990 and a DDS in1995 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.  Immediately after graduation, I moved to the Pacific Northwest. After a short period of associateship, I purchased my private general dentistry practice in Tacoma Washington.

My practice is conveniently located in the downtown Tacoma hospital core.  Since 1995, I have been a credentialed member of Multi-Care and Franciscan health systems.  I am honored to be the primary general dentist for these systems.  For past 22 years I have served as a volunteer “24/7 on call dentist” for Tacoma General Hospital (TG), Mary Bridge Children Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.  I donate my services to “in-patient” and “ER patient” with dental related conditions at these and other facilities. I have been providing free dental care to the disabled and mentally challenged, and underserved population since I was in Dental school.  With my hospital dentistry training and community affiliations, I am able to provide comprehensive dental care under general anesthesia at Mary Bridge and Tacoma General Hospitals often at reduced cost or sometimes at no cost at all.

I also believe that education should not end after dental school. My continuing dental education credits attest to that. My continuing dental education has been in various areas including:  sedation dentistry (primarily to facilitate dentistry for the disabled), computerized treatment-planning and diagnosis in implantology and orthodontic sciences, Cad Cam dentistry, implantology, bone grafting/osseo-integration/ PRP, periodontal surgery, Orthodontics, occlusion/ TMD studies, treatment planning and management of complex cases, ACLS/ emergencies management, digital radiography, and digital practice and data management. We are one of the pioneers in internet communication in dental field in our city. I have taken majority of course offered by Doctors Organization for Conscience Sedation (DOCS). I have been a licensed sedation dentist since 2003.  In 2007 I completed IV sedation mini residency given by Dr. Stanley Malamed with University of Southern California. Since 2005, I have taken numerous courses in Cad-cam technology and computerized dentistry. Between 2005 to 2007, I completed a comprehensive educational program in dental implantology including treatment planning, surgical techniques, prosthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry through Pacific Implant Institute of British Columbia, Canada.  Since 2008 I have participated a mini residency in orthodontic studies offered by Progressive Orthodontic System (the leader of Orthodontic Education in the world). In 2014 I completed a Master of Science in Orthodontics from International Medical College of Munster Germany.

Since 2000 I have been heavily involved with Multicare Thoracic surgeons to conduct thorough diagnosis and treatment of oral infections in cardiac surgery candidates prior to their heart operations to insure a positive outcome.

My professional memberships include Greater Puget Sound Seminars study club/Seattle study club (internationally recognized), Ever Green Cad-Cam study club, Doctors Organization for Conscious Sedation (Fellow), International Congress of Oral implantologists (Fellow), American academy of Oral Implantologists, Academy of General Dentistry, American/ Washington/ Pierce County Dental Association. I am a  “fellow” of University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry Alumni (JD Robertson Society). I am an Alumni of Pacific Implant Institute of Vancouver British-Columbia.  I have served as president, and delegate, of Pierce County Dental Society (PCDS) and a member of Washington States budget and Finance Committee (2012-2016).   I have been a constant financial supporter of   JD Robertson Society, University of Oklahoma, Washington state and Pierce County Oral Health foundation and Symphony Tacoma.

I have always believed all of us must share our knowledge with others. Through the years my dental office has been a place for all of my colleges and peers to come and get education at various levels. From rotating dental assistant students to experience dentists, we have shared with them our humble knowledge and experience. I have also been a featured speaker in many dental gathering and conferences at home and abroad. This journey will go on for rest of my life.

My life philosophy is that we should all strive to minimize and eliminate human suffering.  Since I am a believer in our local and global communities, I try to stay active in social organizations as well.  I have been a lifelong financial and moral supporter of The United Nation’s World Children’s Fund, Care International, Feed the Children, American Red Cross, Sierra Club, World Wildlife Fund, Doctors Without Borders, Sight Flight, Oxfam, Tacoma Rescue Mission, Tacoma homeless connect, American Second Harvest, Salvation Army, Project Hope, American Association of Multiple Sclerosis, American Heart Association, American diabetic Association, March of Dimes, Smile Train, Nature Conservancy, World Vision and Habitat for Humanity. As an “earth lover,” I have advocated pro-environment practices and policies and for the past several years, my office has earned and maintained (the highest) “Five Star” title given to businesses by Pierce County Health Department/ “enviro star” program.

My dental practice philosophy is that every patient should be treated as an individual who deserves the best dental care possible.  I try to achieve this by respecting and listening to my patients and staying abreast of current dental knowledge and technology. It is my honor to serve my community in any capacity.
